Spanish Wedding at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Tulsa, OK

Cecilia and Martín are one of the most elegant couples I have ever met. We photographed their classy engagement session in Downtown Tulsa. I am so excited to show you the images from their wedding day!

Getting Ready at the Mayo Hotel

Cecilia put on her dress at the Mayo Hotel in Downtown Tulsa. I highly recommend getting ready at a hotel if your church doesn’t have a place to do so! A clutter-free hotel room really eliminates any distractions and provides a luxurious backdrop for the getting ready images.

After getting dressed and putting the final touches on her hair and makeup, we drove to St. Francis Xavier church to prepare for the Catholic wedding ceremony! I captured a few images of Martín getting ready in the church. Doesn’t he look so handsome?

Spanish Catholic Wedding Ceremony at St. Francis Xavier

The guests arrived and it was time for the ceremony to begin! It was a beautiful Spanish ceremony which started with las arras (coins) tradition. The coin tradition is where 13 coins are given to the bride. This symbolizes the groom’s responsibility to provide, support, and take care of his wife. The bride’s acceptance shows her unconditional trust.

They also did the el lazo tradition. This is when an oversized rosary is placed around the bride & groom in the form of the infinity symbol after they have said their vows to symbolize their everlasting union. I loved learning about these (new-to-me!) wedding traditions!

After the ceremony, we took formal family portraits in the church. Then we headed outside for some portraits of Cecilia and Martín alone in front of the church!

Glenpool Conference Center Reception

Next, we drove to the Glenpool Conference Center for their reception! The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed. Martín & Cecilia were overjoyed to walk in as husband and wife! The guests were dressed to the nines and really enjoyed the reception. The couple ended up adding additional hours of coverage because everyone was having such a good time!

Finally, it was time to depart so I grabbed Cecilia & Martín for a few night portraits outside of their venue. These were the perfect “finale” portraits for their album!
